With the new 3 July deadline, you’ve got plenty of time to tell the story of how your business saved time and money, launched a disruptive new product or service, increased innovation and productivity or broke new ground in environmental management, building community or improving staff relationships. It’s that easy.
What’s not so easy? Getting started! We’ve all been there, but there’s no truer saying than ‘beginning is half done’. Here’s a few tips to help:
Your first action is to take 5 minutes to register and fill in the basic details on the online platform. At the same time, check out the categories and download the questions – there’s only 5 in each category. Once you’ve registered, you can save and go back to complete your submission bit by bit and work online or offline as you prefer.
An added benefit – your project will likely be suitable for a couple of different categories, giving you extra opportunities to win, for the same amount of effort!)
2. Use your existing resources.
If your project is one that you’ve previously used in a tender, a grant application or on your website as an example of your work, chances are that you can use that information as a good basis for your entry.
3. Outsource the writing component.
If the written word is a barrier to entry, rather spend your time working with someone who can manipulate the written word as well as you [insert your own skill here!]. Don’t know anyone with that skill set? Get in touch with us and we’ll point you in the right direction.
4. Get help.
Use the Department of State Development, Manufacture, Infrastructure & Planning’s free service to check over your entry and feedback useful improvements before you submit.
To access the DSDMIP’s free assistance, you can either email or call Ros Wesche at the DSDMIP Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday Regional Office on 07 4898 6805.
5. Hit the ‘ENTER’ button…
…and you’re in with a chance to boost your business profile and showcase your unique value to the mining industry’s best and brightest.
HOT TIP: The judging panel aren’t always looking for the biggest or most well-resourced projects – just fully answer the questions, and back it up with quantifiable evidence and solid referees. Previous comments from judges highlighted that simple, full explanations with verifiable evidence were the way to go.
Check out the entry pack for full details including categories and T&C’s, and start your entry by downloading the questions. We’re looking forward to celebrating your hard work!
