Peer judging has always been at the heart of the Queensland Mining Awards, and with the first four judges announced on 2020’s hard-hitting panel of industry executives and leaders, this year is no different.
Hosted by the Bowen Basin Mining Club, the Queensland Mining Awards will assess entries covering all aspects of the resources industry from coal to minerals and gas, with a judging panel whose expertise well and truly spans the industry.
The panel’s first four judges are:
•Peter Kane – Chief Operating Officer, QCoal Group
•Darren Oliver, Group Manager Procurement, Glencore
•Andrew Wilson – Head of Asset Integration, BMA
•Dr Sharna Glover – CEO, Imvelo
Jodie Currie, Bowen Basin Mining Club Director, believes it’s important for Award entrants to know that their entries are judged by experts with real industry experience, which can be a valuable business development tool. Finalists also receive high-level feedback from each judge, which is rare for an awards program.
“The Awards process is a great way to get your business’s achievements in front of industry leaders – where else would you be able to directly tell executives exactly why your innovation or project has been a game-changer?”
Dr Sharna Glover is a first-time judge with particular experience in business transformation, innovation and automation, making her ideal to evaluate stand-out projects in this year’s Awards. Dr Glover says she can’t wait to uncover the hidden gems of the industry through the judging process.
“As someone who has experienced both ‘sides of the table’ in the mining industry, with 18 years of BHP executive experience and now running my own business, I look forward to seeing the amazing stories of innovation that our industry has to tell,” said Dr Glover.
Online entries for the Awards are open until Friday May 1. To see the questions and find out more, start your entry at www.judgify.me/QMA2020.
